I think u should let it go if the guy got help because it was hard for him considering he was maybe 14yrs old the guy had his first girl maybe ..... just like the time u girls once lost ur virginity to some guy once and couldn't get over it just the same. Make him feel good and let him know how good he makes u feel when hes around you. well hope it works out for you two. (keep in mind if he kept his visits to the psych from you all this time was maybe because he cares about you and really wants to change his life for the better)
