My guy friend likes me..i don't..what to do or say without hurting him?

theres this guy,a grade older than me,one of his friends was like wanting to date me & stuff but i really didnt like him so i must admit i was kinda mean 2 him bec he wouldnt get the picture,then i started to hang out with these girls that were very close with this guy(the one that is ''in love'' with me)anywys im a very shy girl but after awhile we kinda started to get along pretty well,me & these two girls always have lunch with him & stuff,these other 2 boys supposedly liked me too,& thats when i started 2 notice that he had some other kind of interest in me,he would get all protective with me bec i had other "admirers" but ok at first i thought he was just fooling around bec hes like that,but then idk he was like all what do you think of my behavior this past week which was getting more affectional and i was like emm idk, haha & its not that i dont like him its just that i dont want a bf right now..i care for him and dont want to hurt him but im confused what should i do or say?
