Was Prophet Mohammed(Pbuh) aware about Indian subcontinent during his time?

Muhammad (Peace be Upon him) is actually mentioned in the Prophecies of the Rig Vida by name. I'm not sure if he actually ever went to India, though his followers definitely did. Allah (God) knows best!
