What liquid would leak out of a propane furnace?

It doesn't smell like propane, but it does smell flammable. It looks a little oily maybe and is clear. Smelled the whole basement up...awful chemical/flamable smell. We shut off power to furnace and then it did that. We turned furnace back on and it's working, but wondering what the liquid is?!
