The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: Book or movie?

I haven't read the book, but I finished the movie today in English cl and it was the saddest movie I've ever seen but it was so good! I know some stuff was not realistic like the fact that they kept a child that young in the first place, and that he was Bruno was able to sneak in, but was the book good? Which one is better?
